Following are Academics sessions

  1. Lecture classes
    Lectures are delivered by the Professors and Assistant professors. A total of six classes spread as two per week are conducted. The content of the class will be predominantly from reference text books like The MILLER'S ANAESTHESIOLOGY.

  2. Case Discussion
    One exam case will be discussed every month. The session will be chaired by aProfessors and two assistant professors. Two postgraduates will be presenting the case. Thishelps students to prepare for their VIVA during the final exams.

  3. Symposium
    This will be headed by a professor and two assistant professors with one symposium conducted every month. The most important , The mustknows and "ddifficult to understand" topics are chosen and discussed for the benefit of postgraduates.

  4. Guest lectures
    As medicine is an intricately woven and overlapping subject, we invite eminent teachers, Professors from other departments. At times NRI speakers and alumni of our institute who are pioneers in various branches of anaesthesia are called upon to enlighten the students. These personalitiesalso inspire postgraduates to push their limits and desire to achieve biggergoals!

  5. Journal club
    This meeting is being conducted monthly once. Research papers &recent advances from National and International journals are discussed.

  6. Department ethical committee meeting
    This is also held once in a month. Dissertation topics and discussion about the prosand consand the feasibility of the studies are discussed.

  7. Intra departmental Morbidity and mortality audit
    It is conducted once in a month. The causes and circumstancial scenarios of morbidity and mortality are thoroughly discussed .

  8. Interesting cases
    Interesting cases taken in a month are discussed for the benefit of others so that everyone can further sharpen their knowledge and skills in managing difficult cases.

  9. Bed side clinics
    This includes IRCU ward rounds, interaction with postgraduates inside the theatres regarding intraoperative management of cases.

  10. Monthly once Quiz programme
    This is conducted to keep the PG's thirst for knowledge alive!

  11. Post duty discussion
    On a daily basis, The post duty team is made to discuss their emergency cases and management of the same with their concernedProfessors. This help them to hone their skills in managing emergency cases which are unoptimized and more sick majority of the times.

  12. Coffee break
    As per ASA guidelines ,regarding quality monitoring, every anaesthesiologist needs a short mental break during the intraoperative management and monitoring, so that they can concentrate again on the monitors and thus be more vigilant. So,provision of a good drink and snacks will serve the purpose. The coffee club run by the PG's and faculties together, helps this cause.

  13. Log book completion and monthly tests
    These are compulsory in the month end. This helps students to develop a routine schedule to complete the allotted test topic and keep their log books up to date.

  14. Conferences
    Inaddition to the above mentioned activities students are permitted to attend National,South zone and State conferences. Also every year a CME is conducted and the entire department right from the professor to the student work towards making it a success. In this process students also gain a lot of knowledge regarding the particular topic.

  15. ISA meeting
    The students also attend the monthly ISA meetings held.Throught the academic sessions conducted in these meetings,students learn about the recent advances and guidelines in management of various cases.

  16. Appreciation time
    Academically ,best performing students are also awarded with medals Every here.

  17. Entertainment
    Too much academics and only work without proper breaks will only lead to fatigue. To make sure that doesn't happen,small get togethers to celebrate achievements,victory in competitions are held now and then.
